Speed is one of the most important things in surfing.

Without proper speed you won’t be able to

complete even the most basic moves and turns.


速度是衝浪最重要的因素之一

如果沒有適當得速度你可能連最基本的動作跟轉向都做不出來




Here are 10 tips on how you can surf faster:

這裡有10個方式可以讓你衝浪的速度更快






1.TOP THIRD OF THE WAVE

接近浪頂的三分之一的部分


Try to surf on the top third part of the wave.

Gravity will help you in gaining extra speed.

衝浪的時候在加速時盡量利用靠近浪壁上緣1/3的地方

地心引力會幫助你加速到你板子的極限

(不過每一張版型設計的不一樣也會造成你最終速度的不一樣唷,

比方說 Roundnose的版型-圓頭

加速到一個速度後終究跟尖頭板會有一定的差距)

2 STAY CLOSE TO POCKET

維持在浪唇跟浪口之間

(保持在白浪花跟乾淨的浪的交界點)




Staying as close to the energy source is probably the best tip for gaining extra speed.

You can stay there by doing carving turns or cutbacks.

Sometimes surfers stall their board so they end up in the pocket again.


盡量保持在白浪花跟乾淨的浪的交界點

也就是浪的力量最穩定,最大的地方

運用這一段最有力的部分進行加速來為下個動作儲存能量

有時候衝浪者會用 Cutback 的技巧回到這個部分

繼續在這個地方獲得浪的能量

3 WIDER BOTTOM TURN

更寬廣的Bottom Turn



A good bottom turn is the basis of lots of surfing maneuvers.

With a good bottom turn you can actually gain extra speed.

If you find yourself losing speed or even stalling when you do a bottom turn,

you probably came into the turn too hard, too square.

You’ve lost all your momentum that you’ve gained from coming down the wave.

The key to maintaining your speed is to draw a wider arching line with your knees bend and staying low.

If done perfectly you will actually generate more speed with your bottom turn.


一個好的Bottom Turn可以得到很大的速度

如果你發現你在轉向的時候或是Bottom turn的時後失去了速度

那應該是你轉向的時候太用力,不夠柔軟,太剛性,路線太方正

你已經失去了你之前加速得到的動力

維持你速度的要訣是運用你彎曲的膝蓋以及保持低重心劃一個更寬廣的弧形

如果你Bottom turn做得很完美的話你應該可以獲得更多的速度

4 MORE VOLUME

挑選浮力好一點的衝浪板

Generally speaking the more foam a board has the faster it will glide through the water.

Different tail shapes, concaves and rail types also affect the drive of the board.

簡單來說就是挑選浮力好的衝浪板會讓您更有在浪上滑行的感覺

當然不一樣的版型

浪板的concave

還有板尾設計也會有不一樣的差別

5 LESS ROCKER

Rocker不要太翹

Less rocker (the curvature of the surfboard’s foam)

will result in a faster board that is harder to turn.

 A flatter board will work very well on smaller waves

when you don’t have larger waves to help generate speed.

少一點Rocker(衝浪板板頭的翹度)

可以讓你得板子在不是太大的浪況下更好加速

很翹的Rocker適合讓你在大浪下滑行

但是在浪小的狀態下會不容易加速

既然是國外的文章

強尼想所謂的大浪應該是兩人以上

6 SHIFT WEIGHT TO FRONT FOOT

轉換你的重心到前腳


If you apply too much pressure on your back foot

you have a chance of stalling your board.

 Instead shift some weight to your front foot and feel the board picking up speed.

如果你放了太多重心在後腳你可能會讓你得板子旋轉

在加速時您應該試圖把重心往前腳轉移

去感覺在浪上加速的節奏

7 RAIL TO RAIL

Pro surfers constantly surf from rail to rail.

They are constantly turning or pumping from side to side.

This is how they maintain and generate most of their speed.

It is mainly done on high performance shortboards

but can also be done with other surfboards.


職業的Surfer很常使用流暢的轉向以及上下加速保持速度

舉例來說當稍微跑出白浪花太多到乾淨的水面上時

會使用Cutback回到白花區交接處

以及像是滑板的"左右踢他"

的技巧來維持速度

Rail to Rail的重點在於

重點是搭配上身提起, 接著運用"腳趾頭"力量讓衝浪板轉向

 再加上重心的移轉來進行比較大幅度的擺動加速

8 PUMPING

上下加速

Pumping describes the action of going up and down the wave.

It usually happens on the steep section of the wave.

The higher you are the more speed you will generate when going down.

 Once you are down decompress your legs and spring back up the wave.

Repeat this a couple of times and you will be

generating sufficient speed for your next turn or move.



Pumping是在描述板子在浪上上下下的一個動作

通常是在比較陡峭的浪上

你上到越高的浪頂位置下滑時你會得到更多的速度

重覆這個加速幾次您可以得到足夠的速度讓你維持到下個轉向或是動作









9 TRIMMING & BOUNCING

TRIMMING

調整重心

To trim the surfboard transfer weight

between your toe side and heel side.

This will pull you up and down the face of the wave

and help you to maintain or generate speed.


試著把你的重心往腳趾以及腳跟

這個方式會幫助你在浪面上上下下

有助於加速的動作

有衝浪滑板的人可以試試看唷

前腳腳尖跟腳跟重心轉換下配合髖骨的扭動就可以加速唷





BOUNCING

跳動

Generating speed by bouncing is when you place your weight

 on the back foot lifting the nose out of the water.

Then shift your weight to the front foot and push down.

Doing this repeatedly is called bouncing and is usually done on flat sections in smaller surf.


使用重新的移動,踩板子

重心往後腳調整後板頭會翹起來

這個時候重心再放往前腳踩

重覆幾次後就可以獲得速度

最常在平平的浪況以及小浪上使用

10 CLEAR WAX BOTTOM

把底部得臘刮乾淨

Be sure to scrape off any wax from the bottom of your board.

The smoother your surfboard, the more fluid it will glide through the water.


把衝浪板下面得臘刮乾淨

接觸水面的那一面越光滑

在海面上接受到的阻力就越小

越不容易失速唷
